Earlier this month, the Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge presented Dyllis Springs Elementary with a donation of $1,510 to support the purchase of books and literacy materials.
The grant initiative, focused on encouraging elementary students' literacy and participation in reading both in and out of the classroom, was funded through partnerships with the Kiwanis International Children’s Fund Microgrant program, Kiwanis Club of Oak Ridge project funds, and Altrusa Foundation support.
“Kiwanis of Oak Ridge has a proud tradition of working to support youth in our community,” said William Gwin, KCOR President, “from the Boy Scouts to Graduation Celebration to literacy projects Kiwanis recognizes that youth are our future. We extend heartfelt thanks to our community partners, parents, and educators as we all pitch in to promote the well-being of our children.”
Club members look forward to continuing to support the school in their literacy initiative, providing opportunities for Club Members to participate in reading-centered activities in the classroom.
